International Surgeons to Study at Evergreen

Kirkland, WA – Evergreen Healthcare and the Evergreen Spine Institute will host a group of 10 international surgeons on Monday, Aug. 29, at Evergreen Hospital Medical Center to learn an advanced, minimally invasive surgical procedure on a patient with a spinal deformity.

Visiting Surgeons from China, Japan and Poland will observe as leading Evergreen spinal surgeon Dr. Jeffrey Roh demonstrates an advanced, two-stage procedure using minimally invasive surgical techniques. These procedures involve less tissue damage, less blood loss, quicker recovery times and smaller incisions than traditional surgical procedures to help patients achieve optimal recovery.

The group of international surgeons will return on Wednesday, Aug. 31, to observe two more surgeries performed by Dr. Roh and Dr. Addison T. Stone.

Dr. Roh, a member of the medical staff at Evergreen Healthcare, is a specialist in spine care for deformity, trauma and fractures, osteoporosis and minimally invasive spine surgery. He is one of only two members of the Society for Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery in Washington. Dr. Stone, also a member of Evergreen’s medical staff, is a specialist in spine care for degenerative conditions, trauma and fractures.

The Evergreen Spine Institute is a leader in minimally invasive procedures, many of which were developed by its own surgeons. Its surgeons perform 500 to 700 minimally invasive procedures per year, the most of any hospital in Washington. The institute was named a Blue Distinction Center for Spine Surgery by Regence BlueShield and was also awarded a five-star rating for spine surgery by HealthGrades for 2011.
