"30-Day Readmission" describes a situation when patients who have had a recent hospital stay and, within 30 days of their discharge, go back into a hospital. The rates of readmission for each hospital are compared to the U.S. National Rate. The rates take into account how sick patients were before they were admitted to the hospital.
