William Getchell, MD

Dr. William Getchell joined Eastside Cardiology in 2000. His practice includes a full range of clinical cardiology skills, including stress echocardiography, treadmill testing, echocardiography, invasive cardiology and nuclear cardiology.

Dr. Getchell received his undergraduate degree from Stanford University. He went on to earn his MD from UC San Diego, and then a Master's degree in Public Health from the Oregon Health Sciences University. Post graduate training in internal medicine at UC San Francisco was followed by a Cardiology Fellowship at Oregon Health Sciences University  After completing his training, he was on the faculty at the Portland Veterans Administration Hospital, as an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Cardiology at Oregon Health Sciences University. 


Bob Haynes, MD

Dr. Bob Haynes has been practicing cardiology in Kirkland since 1977. He has served as the Chief of the Medical Staff, Chief of the Department of Cardiology and the Medical Director of the Cardiac Rehabilitation program at Evergreen Hospital. He is Board Certified in Cardiology, is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and is a Clinical Assistant professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Washington.

Dr. Haynes received his undergraduate degree at Oberlin College (Ohio) and earned his MD at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. He completed his Cardiology Fellowship at the University of Washington.  


Edward Kim, MD

Dr. Edward Kim joined Eastside Cardiology in 2001. He has authored numerous articles regarding basic mechanisms of cholesterol metabolism and cell signaling. He is Board Certified in both General Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology.

Dr. Kim received his undergraduate degree from Yale University and earned his MD from the University of Pennsylvania.  He trained in internal medicine at Johns Hopkins Hospital and completed a postdoctoral research fellowship at the J. David Gladstone Institute and a General Cardiology fellowship at UC San Francisco. 


Rubin Maidan, MD

Dr. Rubin Maidan joined Eastside Cardiology in 1985.  He was among the first cardiologists to train in coronary angioplasty in the early 1980's and brought that skill to Eastside Cardiology, where he and his colleagues pioneered the use of angioplasty in acute heart attacks. He served as Director of Cardiology at Evergreen Hospital for 16 years and held an appointment as Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Washington Medical Center. He is also interested in integrative medicine, and collaborates with naturopaths and other alternative providers on a model of integrated cardiovascular care utilizing the best of both medical worlds to serve his patients.

Dr. Maidan received undergraduate degrees from the University of Iowa, and earned his MD from the University of Iowa Medical School. He completed his Cardiology Fellowship at the University of Minnesota. 


Derek Rodrigues, MD

Dr. Derek Rodrigues joined Eastside Cardiology Associates in 1990.  His particular areas of interest include electrophysiology - the ability to diagnose and curatively treat complex cardiac arrhythmias. He has performed catheter ablation of atrial fibrillation since 2003. He has been involved in research into management of arrhythmias and heart failure with implantable defibrillators and pacemakers. Dr. Rodrigues has served as Director of Cardiology at Evergreen Hospital. He is Board Certified in Cardiology and Cardiac Electrophysiology. 

Dr. Rodrigues earned his degree from the University of Oxford before entering St. Mary's Hospital Medical School. He received his MD degree from the University of London, and did postgraduate work in the UK before completing his internal medicine residency at Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions in Baltimore. He completed his Cardiology Fellowship at UCLA. 


James Schneider, MD

Dr. James Schneider joined Eastside Cardiology in 1980. His particular areas of interest are diagnostic cardiology, including echocardiography and nuclear cardiology and interventional cardiology, including angioplasty and stents. He is a past Chairman of Medicine at Evergreen Hospital and started the Nuclear Cardiology Department at Overlake Hospital. He is Board Certified in Cardiology, is a Fellow of American College of Cardiology, and is a clinical professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Washington.

Dr. Schneider received his undergraduate degree at the University of Michigan followed by a Master of Science in Nuclear Engineering at MIT. He earned his MD at Dartmouth Medical School and completed his Cardiology Fellowship at Yale University Medical School. 


Mark Vossler, MD

Dr. Mark Vossler joined Eastside Cardiology in 2002. His clinical interests include chronic heart failure, cardiomyopathy, heart disease in pregnancy, echocardiography, and nuclear cardiology.  He serves as the medical director of the heart failure program and cardiac enhancement center at Evergreen Hospital. He is board certified in Cardiovascular Diseases.  

Dr. Vossler received both his undergraduate degree and his MD from University of Rochester.  He did his internship and residency in internal medicine at University of Vermont and his Cardiology Fellowship at Oregon Health Sciences University. He spent an additional year at OHSU for advanced training in heart failure and cardiac transplantation and served on the OHSU faculty in the cardiology division for three years.


Cynthia Warner, MD

Dr. Cynthia Warner joined Eastside Cardiology in 2008. Dr. Warner received advanced training in Echocardiography and Nuclear Cardiology.  She is board certified in Cardiovascular Diseases, Comprehensive Echocardiography/TransEsophageal Echocardiography, and Nuclear Cardiology.

Dr. Warner received her undergraduate degree from the University of Washington and earned her MD from the University of Miami. Her internal medicine residency, Cardiovascular Fellowship and Heart Failure/Transplant Fellowship were completed at Yale University School of Medicine.  


Rachael Wyman, MD

Dr. Rachael Wyman joined Eastside Cardiology in 2007. As a preventive cardiologist, Dr. Wyman has special skills in the management of lipid disorders, hypertension, and the identification and treatment of individuals at risk for heart disease. She is the medical director of preventive cardiology at Evergreen Hospital. She is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Medicine, Echocardiography, and Nuclear Cardiology.

Dr. Wyman received her undergraduate degree from Carroll College (Montana) and her MD from the University of Washington Medical School. Her medical residency, Cardiovascular Medicine Fellowship, and Preventive Cardiology Fellowship were completed at the University of Wisconsin.  


Harry Yu, MD

Dr. Harry Yu joined Eastside Cardiology in 2002. He practices general cardiovascular medicine which encompasses the evaluation and management of coronary artery disease, heart failure, and cardiac risk factors such as hypertension and lipid disorders. Dr Yu has specialized training in heart failure and cardiac imaging including echocardiography, nuclear cardiology, and cardiac CT.  He is the director of echocardiography at Evergreen Hospital. He is Board Certified in Cardiovascular Disease, Nuclear Cardiology and Internal Medicine.

Dr. Yu earned both his undergraduate and MD degrees at Northwestern University. He completed his medical residency at the Harvard Medical School program at The Beth Israel Hospital and his Cardiology Fellowship at the Tufts Medical School program at the New England Medical Center.  


Adam Gilbert, PA-C

Adam joined Eastside Cardiology Associates in 2010 after spending a three and a half years in a busy cardiology practice in Perrysburg, Ohio. Upon completing his bachelor's degree at the University of Toledo, Adam spent a year in cardiovascular genomic research in Toledo, Ohio and Ann Arbor, Michigan. He then completed a Master's of Science in Biomedical Sciences for Physician Assistant Studies at the University of Toledo. After certifying through the Physician Assistant National Certifying Examination in 2007, he began practicing cardiology in the office and hospital settings. He has a special interest in preventive cardiology and the management of coronary artery disease.


Rachel Maas, ARNP

Rachel Mass joined Eastside Cardiology in 2007.  She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Portland, and spent the next eight years as a nurse in the cardiac intensive care unit. She earned her Masters of Nursing degree from the University of Washington. Rachel manages a variety of cardiac conditions within general cardiology, interventional cardiology and electrophysiology. She is also trained in the interpretation and management of implantable devices such as pacemakers and defibrillators.


Irina Penev, PA

Irina Penev joined Eastside Cardiology in 2010, after seven years in cardiac surgery at the Mayo Clinic.  She has cared for patients with end stage heart failure, managed with heart replacement therapy, in their homes.  A native of Bulgaria, Irina graduated from medical school in 1994 and worked as a physician in immunology and medical microbiology before relocating to the United States. She is a graduate of the University of Washington School of Medicine as a physician assistant.


Julie Young, ARNP

Julie Young joined Eastside Cardiology in 2004. Julie earned both her Bachelors of Nursing and Masters of Nursing degrees from the University of Washington. Between degrees, she spent seven years as an intensive care unit nurse. Her scope of practice embraces the management of cardiovascular issues in both the hospital and clinic setting.  Her knowledgeable and experienced care encompasses general cardiology, heart failure, implantable devices, electrophysiology, complex arrhythmia management and interventional cardiology.
