24/7 Emergency Care

Your Visit to the ED

What to Bring to the Emergency Department

  • Two forms of photo identification (driver's license, student or work ID with photo, passport)
  • A list of the medications you take, including vitamins and supplements. It helps if you know the dosage, too. If you don't have time to write them down, put all the bottles in a sealable plastic bag and bring them with you. (Plan ahead: Carry a list in your wallet at all times.)
  • A complete medical history, if possible; or at least the last few years
  • The name of your doctor
  • If you don't speak English well, interpreter services are available at no cost
  • If you're bringing a child for treatment, bring a favorite toy, book or security blanket
  • A ride home. After some treatments, we won't let you drive.

At the Emergency Department

If you have a cough, fever or flu symptoms, we request that you put on a mask before you come into the waiting room. A kiosk outside the entrance to the Emergency Department lobby has masks for adults and children.

Check in at the Emergency Department triage area. Registration may take place at your bedside.

A triage nurse will see you first. The nurse will do an initial assessment. Expect questions such as:

  • Symptoms or signs of illness or injury
  • Current list of medications
  • Allergies
  • Level of pain
  • Medical history

You will be assigned a priority based on the severity of your illness or injury. That may change, depending upon the severity of illness or injury of other patients who arrive while you're waiting.

We ask that you use common cell phone courtesy while in the Emergency Department.
