Rehabilitation begins once stroke patients are stabilized. While in the hospital, physical, occupational and speech therapists work with patients to improve their abilities.
Stroke patients needing additional therapy before being discharged will transition into the Acute Rehabilitation Unit at Evergreen Hospital.
This 14-bed inpatient unit provides intensive rehabilitation in a facility that simulates the home environment. This ensures that patients return home with the rehabilitative training necessary to perform activities of daily living, such as dressing, washing and eating.
The staff in the Acute Rehabilitation Unit sit down with each patient to determine their goals, and then they design a therapy program to help them work toward those goals. Staff also works with family members and caregivers, who will continue with the therapy once the patient is discharged.
To qualify for admission to the Acute Rehabilitation Unit, a patient must meet these medical criteria:
Upon your physician's request, the admission staff will obtain proper insurance verification and pre-authorization.
